The Hope Light "Screen for Hope" campaign promotes getting screening tests on a regular basis that may detect breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancers early when they can be treated more effectively in an early stage. In some cases, screening tests can prevent cancer by detecting and treating pre-cancerous abnormal cells before they become cancer. Screening for lung cancer is encouraged for individuals who are at high risk based on informed/shared decision making discussions with their healthcare provider.
The Cancer Screening tri-fold brochure was developed by The Hope Light Foundation to provide an "at-a-glance" summary of nationally accepted current screening guidelines by cancer site, age and gender. The brochure can be used as a multi-cancer, multi media, cancer screening reminder and decision aid tool for individuals and physicians. As a decision aid, it could be used during annual doctor visits as a tickler to discuss potential patient-particular cancers based on family histories, lifestyle and previous cancer history and to decide on and record annual screening needs and screening dates on the front middle panel.
